Job Description

The Internship Programme at Braamfontein offers various opportunities across multiple fields for graduates seeking hands-on work experience. Running until 2025, the internships provide practical experience while offering a monthly stipend. Positions are available in fields such as Administration, Labour Relations, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Procurement, Funds Administration, and Case Management.

Responsibilities

Agreement Compliance Administrative Intern

  • Perform general administrative duties, including filing, data entry, and document preparation.
  • Conduct verification checks to ensure regional compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Consolidate reports from regions for review and analysis.
  • Schedule meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Support compliance activities by reviewing documents and monitoring timelines.

Disputes Intern

  • Provide first-line dispute resolution services to stakeholders.
  • Open and manage dispute cases in the Case Management System.
  • Handle enquiries from clients both in-person and telephonically.
  • Schedule cases, manage dates with commissioners and interpreters, and ensure execution of rulings and awards.
  • Maintain and update the Case Management System.

Human Resources Intern

  • Provide administrative support for the recruitment cycle.
  • Capture and maintain employee data in the SAGE system.
  • Process HR documentation related to employee engagements, promotions, and terminations.
  • Facilitate employee wellness sessions via the LYRA (ICAS) programme.
  • Assist with the off-boarding process and maintain legal compliance in HR processes.

Internal Audit Intern

  • Assist in performing internal audit tasks, compiling working papers, and preparing audit reports.
  • Follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations and management action plans.
  • Participate in departmental projects and tasks under supervision.

Procurement Intern

  • Assist the Procurement department in administration and services.
  • Support the procurement team in managing supply chain activities, including tender processes and risk mitigation.
  • Use in-house SAP system for procurement tasks and document management.
  • Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Funds Administration Intern

  • Process and calculate applications for Pro Rata’s, sick leave, holiday, and arbitration cases.
  • Capture manual applications, verify supporting documentation, and handle payouts.
  • Resolve queries related to payouts and ensure accurate processing of monthly employer contributions.
  • Process special returns, invoices, and refunds in accordance with collective agreements.

Case Management Intern: Western Cape Operations

  • Provide client services and open cases for dispute resolution.
  • Capture daily applications and schedule cases by date, venue, and time.
  • Book interpreters and commissioners for cases.
  • Coordinate the rescission and review process for complex cases.
  • Ensure proper functioning of recording equipment during hearings.

Qualifications

  • Agreement Compliance Administrative Intern: National Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Office Management, or a related field.
  • Disputes Intern: National Diploma or Degree in Labour Relations or Human Resource Management.
  • Human Resources Intern: National Diploma or Degree in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology.
  • Internal Audit Intern: National Diploma or Degree in Internal Audit, IT Audit, Risk Management, or Forensic Investigation.
  • Procurement Intern: National Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain or Logistics Management.
  • Funds Administration Intern: National Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Case Management Intern: National Diploma or Degree in Labour Relations or Human Resources.

Experience

  • No prior experience is required, but a strong academic background and relevant coursework will be beneficial.
  • Some familiarity with administrative tasks, auditing, procurement, or HR processes is advantageous.

Skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new responsibilities.
